We’re mobilizing some of our Caterpillar equipment on our Freightliner to a large project at Eaglebrook School in Deerfield, Massachusetts. The project consists of custom cut granite pavers and large scale plantings.
Phase one of this project is almost complete! The granite cobbestone drive, porte-cochere and some plantings are in. Phase two will be happening soon, including a pool, patio, sunken bar, more plantings, stream bed and waterfall! And if that doesn't wow you enough, there will be a phase three! Check back later to see how it all comes together!
If you take a look back at our previous blog post, "Failing Hillside", you can see just how far we've come! Even when you look at the "Failing Hillside Update!" it was hard to visualize how things would end up looking. But now here it is! Installation is complete and all that's left is for the grass to come in! The owners now have space to enjoy the outdoors, whether it's lounging on the patio or enjoying the stadium seating around the fire pit.
This hillside was a waste of space and impossible to maintain. We cut it back and added some support in order to make it safer and more functional for the cleints. The difference is already amazing, but it will be even greater once the plantings are in!
The UVM Englesby house in Burlington is a location we have done work at over the past few years. Recently it needed a bit of a face lift to really bring it back to life and let our previous work shine. It isn’t common to find such a large and beautiful formal garden in the middle of the city which adds to the location's overall charm. The use of brick in the front walkway and backyard patio ties in nicely with the home. With the addition of some plantings the location is as vibrant and lively as ever.
This residential home in Littleton, New Hampshire, is in for a serious makeover. We are beginning with about 3,000 square feet of granite cobble stone to form an entryway that will match the already existing granite stone work as well as compliment the scale of the house. This is only a small part of the entire project; still to come are the installations of a swimming pool, patios, and large scale plantings.
This client had a failing hillside. It was nearly impossible and dangerous to try to mow because of how steep it was, and it was taking up usable space. The slope extended right up to the back of the house leaving the client without much of a back yard. We were able to turn the area into livable space with boulder walls and mortared core walls to support the slope once we dug some of it away. These walls will prevent the sandy ground from future erosion. We also added stone stairs that climb up to a patio and fire pit, which was one way we were able to utilize the slope. Eventually the upper hillside will be reforested with native species.

With the addition of a wood or gas burning outdoor fireplace or fire pit you can extend the season by taking the chill out of cooler spring and fall evenings. It is important to place the fire feature properly in the design and choose a size that is suitable for the space. This residential masonry project in Charlotte, Vermont has a massive fireplace that’s 300,000 BTU’s! The project also includes fieldstone landings and steps with bluestone treads, over 1,000 square feet of thermal bluestone patio, and more than 100 square feet of fieldstone wall with custom flamed caps!
